And This Is Why

No single blade

sees the grass

for the lawn

it’s become.

No understanding

of posts

and fence

wrapping around

siblings.

Only the feel

of mist

and lack of feet

upon it.

  1. Every day I hit the ‘poetry’ tag at wordpress and scan the first few pages for words which catch my attention. This one was the first today, and when I clicked on it I realised it was you.

“I might have known!” I said.

Only a poet can write so convincingly about a negative and still record and express something concrete. There are damn few poets at wordpress.

  2. Thanks for visiting my blog. Love the feel of this poem. Reminds me of the saying “kids need a safe fence so they can play freely”. So many tones of light and dark in there. Look forward to reading more! 🙂

  3. I love how you compared human emotions to grass and fences. In the end, the lack of something (or more appropriately, someone) from our lives resonates more than the presence of all other things and all other people.

Great job with this poem. 🙂
